On Saturday 1st November Seacourt hosted the Gordon Grady Cup, this is a National under 15 age handicap singles tournament. We had 10 young players from Seacourt and around the country competing and what a fantastic day of tennis it was!
Seacourt players were Sam Pickup, Erin Palmer, Tobias Russell, Austin Russell and Luca Morriss, with 2 groups of 5 we had some great matches. Tobias Russell made it through to the semi-final, he narrowly lost but had a great tournament.
The 2nd semi-final was won by Zoe Neville from Wellington who went through to the final, to play Seacourt's Sam Pickup. Both Sam and Zoe played exceptionally well, Zoe went on to win and fully deserved to take the Gordon Grady Cup.
Congratulations to all the Seacourt players for their enthusiasm and passion for real tennis, you are a credit to the club.
A massive thank you to Jane Grady for her generous sponsorship for this event, not only supplying all the competitors with a t-shirt, goody bag and a fantastic lunch, but for her dedication and loyal support throughout the day. Thank you to William New who is the ultimate man behind the scenes.
We were lucky to have Paul Weaver on hand to present the trophy and prizes giving a heartfelt speech praising the juniors for all their hard work.
A great day of junior tennis and we look forward to next year.
